Berrien Springs Band News 10/23

A great end of season run for our high school band and an upcoming middle school band concert all in this week’s edition.  Have a great day!

High School News

The High School Marching Band closed out the competitive season with a fourth place finish and excellence awards in Music and Color Guard at the East Kentwood Marching Invitational. They performed very well and very musically and were a great set of ambassadors for our community. Well done! I will try to get some pictures and performance video uploaded soon.THANK YOU to all the parents that came in early to prepare breakfast, chaperone, transport equipment, and travel to cheer us on. We so appreciate your support. Also, THANK YOU to all the parents and friends that spent time sewing (and re-sewing) the sashes for the band – the visual effect judges LOVED them. THANK YOU to all the parents that travelled to our competitions to help and cheer, who helped feed the band, who helped chaperone and hand out socks/gloves/shoes, and all the other jobs in between. We wouldn’t have had such a fantastic season without YOU!

This week we will wrap up our marching season and begin the transition to concert music. We will be installing a program called “SmartMusic” on their chrome books. This program has been purchased by the school for your student to use this year. You can read up on the program here. It is designed to improve practice at home and give students an immediate assessment of their progress on their music.

Jazz Band students will be performing at the middle school Fall Band Concert this Thursday, October 27. Call time for students is 6:30pm in the middle school gym. The concert will begin at 7pm. Students are allowed to wear costumes or all black. We hope you join us for the debut performance of our 2016/2017 ShamROCK Jazz Ensemble!
