MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

8th Grade: Nice work at the Homecoming game last Friday! I’m so proud of you all! Now, we switch to concert music full time.7th Grade: Parents, there are several students who have been forgetting to bring their instruments to band class. If they forget, I will have them call you and leave a message. We still have a few students without their blue band book. I will be selling them through Tuesday – $7. They should be working on pages 2 & 3 at home.

6th Grade: Our 6th graders should be bringing their instruments home every day to practice. It is so important that they work at home to build up the muscles in their embouchure. We still have a few students without their red band book. I will be selling them through Tuesday – $7. They should be working on page 6 at home.

SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT

The next 4UR Schools concert the SMSO will be presenting is this coming Sunday, October 9th at 4pm at the Howard Performing Arts Center. It features acclaimedtrumpet soloist Jose Sibaja – who has been lead trumpet for the Boston Brass, performed on the Tonight Show, Conan O’Brien and Saturday Night Live. It’s a cool chance to check out the wide variety of trumpet repertoire in orchestral music.

Through the 4 UR Schools program, students can attend this concert FREE! Adults who come along with them pay only $10 for their tickets.

You MUST let me know if you want to attend this concert so I can assure there are tickets waiting for you. Please do so by this Friday, and I’ll tell the person in charge.

Concert Program:

Arutunian, Trumpet Concerto in A-flat Major
