We are prepping for high school football games and a middle school concert.  Also – beginning band member are going to play for the FIRST time this week.

I’m so excited!  Great things are happening here at Berrien!



This is a bit of a busy week for our high school band members:Monday – class

Tuesday – evening rehearsal 6:30-8:30pm (band room will not close after school)

Wednesday – Hallelujah memorization quiz during class (practice!!!)

Thursday – no class

Friday – class, pictures before the game starting at 4:30pm (band room will not close after school), HOME FOOTBALL GAME! Go Shamrocks! Beat the BEES!


Thank you to everyone who came out to our beginning band meeting on Thursday – it was wonderful to meet so many of you!LOOKING AHEAD: First MS concert is Thursday, October 27th at 7pm in the middle school gym. Put it on your calendar – you don’t want to miss this!

6th grade – We will start with instruments tomorrow (Monday!) Your students will need to bring their instrument to school and down to the band room at 7:30am tomorrow morning.

7th grade – Students should be practicing the Concert B-flat scale from their scale sheet. That will be their first quiz (next week). They have “March of the Nightcrawlers” to practice. I have an order of “Standard of Excellence” blue books that have just arrived. They are $7. Send check or cash with your student to get your book! Checks need to be made out to “BSPS”. We will play out of the blue books this week!

8th grade – We are preparing for our Homecoming performance (September 30th) with the HS band. Your student should be practicing the National Anthem, Fight Song, Stand tunes, and “Let it Rock“. You will get a detailed schedule this week.

Basic Schedule:

Students will need to be at the HS at 5:30pm. Warm up at 6pm. Line up w/HS 6:25. March out w/HS 6:35. Watch HS perform. Join HS for tunnel, National Anthem, Fight song. Join HS in stands for game. Approximate game end time: 9:30pm


Each year we have fundraising and work opportunities for our students to earn money for their band accounts. Students can use money from their band accounts to pay for band camp, marching shoes, trips, etc.In the fall, students or their parents can work in the concession stand during home football games (Varsity, JV, MS, and Rocket). If you are interested in helping with the concession stand, please email our Band Booster President, Tammie Williams. Middle School parents/students can also work to start saving money for their band accounts.

Call time: 5:15pm (unless your individual picture is earlier – sign ups will be in the band room this week).Group Picture: 6pm

Line up: 6:30pm

March out: 6:35pm

Performance: 6:45pm

Game time: 7pm

Approximated end time: 9:30pm (could be earlier or later depending on game)





For our middle school bands and HS jazz band.Call time: 6:30pm

Concert begins: 7pm

Uniform: Students can wear their Halloween costume or all black clothes. No blood, gore, or weapons allowed. Be creative!

About Kelly Rosselit

Kelly Rosselit is the band director for the Berrien Springs Public Schools. She is in her 9th year of teaching; this is her 5th at Berrien Springs. She holds a Master's degree in Oboe Performance from Central Michigan University as well as two undergraduate degrees in music education and music performance. She has performed with the St. Joseph Municipal Band, Andrews Symphony Orchestra, Midland Symphony Orchestra, and Midland Players. She lives in Niles with her husband, Chris, who is a middle school science teacher for the PHM district in Indiana. In her spare time she enjoys kayaking, quilting, and binging entire seasons of tv shows on Netflix.
