BAND BOOSTER MEETING
MONDAY, SEP. 12TH, 7-8PM
SYLVESTER AVENUE MI
This is our first band booster meeting of the year. All parents – middle and high school – are invited and welcome to attend. We will present our booster budget for the year, discuss upcoming fundraisers, and introduce our 2016-2017 executive board.
This meeting is at the BSHS band room. Easy entrance through door A9 (behind the gym).
MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND INFO
All MS: Handbook forms are due tomorrow! Please remember to turn it in! If your student did not bring home a handbook packet, please email me and I will send one to you. Students must agree to our handbook and calendar to stay enrolled in the class.
Add/Drop date for MS band is Monday, September 19th. All schedule changes must be confirmed by a parent/guardian to the counselor’s office by that date. If you wish to discuss details of your student’s participation, please contact me (see below).
6th grade: Practice your posture chant and Treble Clef chant for your family! We will start with instruments on Monday, September 19th. We have a rental meeting on Thursday, September 15th. You are not required to rent from Meyer Music, but they will be available for your convenience. You must have an instrument in hand or on the way by September 19th. If you are having trouble finding an instrument, please contact Mrs. Rosselit this week (contact info below).
7th and 8th grade: Uniform measurement tomorrow. Please bring a book or homework to work on as we get the class measured.
7th grade: You need to bring your instrument and red beginning book this week. If you are new to our class and do not have a red book, do not go buy one – we are only using it to review this week. We will begin with blue Standard of Excellence Book 2s on Monday, September 19th. I am making an order of books this week. They should be in soon – cost is $7.
8th grade: Your football game with the HS band is September 30th. Details to follow in the next week. Please practice: Star Spangled Banner, Let it Rock, and the page of stand tunes. We will hash out the details over the next two weeks.
6TH GRADE BAND MEETING AND INSTRUMENT RENTAL
THURSDAY, SEP. 15TH, 6:30PM
BERRIEN SPRINGS MIDDLE SCHOOL, BERRIEN COUNTY, MI
This meeting is to introduce new band parents to the program and give an opportunity to rent/buy an instrument.
Meyer Music will be on hand to rent instruments for the year. If you need to rent an instrument, please come to this meeting. If you would like to check out Meyer’s prices before attending, call the company @ (269) 366-3920. All students must have instruments in hand (or ordered with a firm delivery date) by Monday, September 19th.
HIGH SCHOOL BAND INFO
Monday: T-shirt forms due, “Night on Bald Mountain” memorization test
Tuesday: Evening rehearsal @ the HS from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Be on time and ready. This is a required rehearsal.
Wednesday: Google handbook agreement form due, Hallelujah w/drill + music, Simple Gifts drill.
Friday: Night, Hallelujah w/drill + music, Simple Gifts drill.
Bring proper shoes for outdoor rehearsals!
Sept. 21 – Hallelujah memorization test
Sept. 23 – Fall pictures (details to come this week), Home Football Game
HS SHIRT ORDERS DUE
Students that wish to purchase additional t-shirts, long sleeved shirts, sweatshirts, or sweatpants need to turn in their money/order forms tomorrow. We need to get these ordered soon! The shirt will have the Redemption logo (as seen below). The order form is posted on our Google Classroom.
MSU BAND OPEN REHEARSAL SATURDAY
On Saturday, September 17th, the Michigan State Marching Band will present an open rehearsal and run thru of their MSU/ND halftime show at the Lakeshore High School football stadium. The rehearsal begins at 10am. Get there early for good seats! This is a great opportunity to see a Big Ten marching band up close. Concessions will be available from the Lakeshore Band Boosters.
